12th Avenue Bascule Bridge
Miami, Florida

Details

Bermello Ajamil & Partners is currently leading construction services for the Florida Department of Transportation, on the $67 Million NW 12th Avenue Bascule Bridge Project.

The nearly three-year project will replace the existing 80-year-old bridge over the Miami River with two double-leaf bascule bridges, along a busy urban corridor. Vehicular traffic capacity will be tripled, while maritime clearance will increase to 24 feet, decreasing bridge opening requirements. Control tower designs will incorporate aesthetic components of the nearby Spring Garden neighborhood. New signalization, lighting, drainage and riverwalk will serve to enhance residential and business interaction along the one-mile stretch.

B&A has developed an expertise in movable structure construction, with successful bascule bridge efforts at the Venetian Causeway, 79th Street Causeway, SW 2nd Avenue, Hollywood Boulevard and now 12th Avenue.
